Yin & Restore Workshop

Jackie just returned from a 300 hour yoga teacher training in Baja, Mexico and is thrilled to be back at Tropical. A specialized portion of his training was in the yin and restorative yoga practices. The purpose of yin practice is to balance out the body by focusing on passivity, finding a comfortable edge and staying, as opposed to a yang energy class where the focus is on controlling the body and the breath. The purpose of the restorative practice, stemming from the Iyengar lineage, is to heal the body through passive postures and relaxing the nervous system.

In this two-day workshop, you can expect to dive deep into the hips with 3-5 minute holds in yin postures for the first hour and 10-15 minutes holds in each restorative posture to subtly and comfortably open up the body while experiencing total relaxation. Both forms of yoga are beneficial to all ages and all levels! Jackie will be providing instruction on the poses as well as sharing some of his favorite poems and essential oils throughout the experience.
